Edgnex, a global digital infrastructure provider under the DAMAC Group, has announced plans to develop a 12.5MW data center in Athens, Greece. The project is the result of a "data scale" joint venture between Edgnex's parent company, Damac, and power company PPC Group, and is located in the Attica region of Athens.

The project is scheduled to break ground in the first quarter of 2025, with an investment of 150 million in the first phase and a capacity of 12.5 MW, which will be gradually expanded to 25 MW. Hussain Sajwani, founder of Damac, said the partnership will combine the expertise of both companies to shape future-oriented data centers and provide enterprises with cutting-edge data solutions.

Georgios Stassis, Chairman of PPC Group, said that the advantages of both parties will not only help companies take off and promote Greece's digital transformation, but also establish Greece's key position in the ecosystem of Southeast Europe.

At present, the market size of data centers in Greece is limited, and most of them are concentrated in Athens, and companies such as Digital Realty have settled in. Edgnex has a strong presence in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and other places, and plans to enter the Asia-Pacific region, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Jordan. The launch of the Athens project will undoubtedly inject strong impetus into Greece's digitalization process and is expected to become an emerging force in the field of data centers in Europe in the future.
