400G QPSK New Breakthrough - Achieves 6000km No Electric Relay Real Time Transmission

2023-08-05 09:30:00

With the development of the digital economy and the promotion of the " Channel computing resources from the east to the west" strategy, the rapid growth of computing power and applications has posed new challenges to network bandwidth resources. High capacity all optical networks represented by 400G speed have been put on the agenda. The industry generally believes that the 400G rate will be the next generation gold rate after 100G, and its life-cycle is expected to span ten years. Therefore, the industry is accelerating the maturity of 400G.

May 17th During the World Telecommunication Day, based on the self-developed 400G QPSK Optical module, FiberHome demonstrated to the industry the first 400G 6000km no electric relay real-time online system verification results in China, marking a key step towards industrial maturity.

Key Achievements 1: 400G QSPK 6000km No Electric Relay Lang-Haul Transmission

This validation utilizes self-developed 400G QPSK line board, 400G QPSK module, and fully self-developed Tbit level OTN processing chip, achieving an ultimate transmission distance of 6000km without electric relay. In on-site testing, the system used G.652. D fiber, which is widely used in the current network, and was based on the C6T band, verifying the limit distance transmission ability of multiple scenarios through EDFA+Raman. The test results show that the performance of self-developed 400G QPSK can fully meet the needs of large capacity and long-distance transmission, achieving the effect of "doubling capacity whilst maintaining distance" compared to 200G QPSK.

Key Achievements 2: 400G QSPK Existing Network C+L 1100km Transmission Simulation

Based on the optical cable data of the trunk network in Hubei Province, FiberHome carried out a long span simulation test of the existing network using C+L band and 400G QPSK technology. In the experiment, FiberHome achieved a loop back transmission distance verification of 1100km, with a system margin of over 5dB. The line was reused (G.652. D throughout the entire process), and no new nodes were added. EDFA was used throughout the entire process, systematically verifying that 400G QPSK can meet the transmission performance requirements of the trunk networks while maintaining the existing network structure, maintenance habits, and main stream cable type.

400G is a systematic engineering project. Lanbras will continue the endeavor to tackle key issues in technology fields such as system optimization, optoelectronic linkage, and intelligent operation to accelerate the commercialization of 400G systems, and work together with global operators and industry partners to build a strong all optical base for computing networks and promote new development of the digital economy.
